The family of four (4) was not at home when the fire began. The American Red Cross is assisting them with emergency needs.

Incident Synopsis
Just after 8:00 am Tuesday morning, a passing motorist called 911 to report smoke coming from a home in East Charlotte. Members of the CFD arrived in less than 4 minutes to report heavy smoke conditions pouring out of this 2-story home. The family of four, parents and children had all ready left for the day when the fire broke out. No injuries were reported and fire damage was contained to the 2nd floor area and water damage to the first floor. The Charlotte Fire Investigation Task Force responded and traced the cause of this fire to a electric fan that was left running in a 2nd floor bedroom resulting in a fire.
