CFD High School Fire Academy

For the past four years, the program has been a great success and parents have provided an overwhelming amount of gratitude and support for this program. Some students’ experiences are so great they often return the following year to serve in the role of an “Assistant”. The High School Fire Academy is a great recruitment tool that has been mutually beneficial for both the fire department and the student participants. The fire department has an opportunity to observe and evaluate future firefighter candidates. The students have an opportunity to increase their knowledge about the fire service by participating in hands-on training.
The opportunity to serve as the Administrator of this unique program has personally been a very rewarding experience and has taught me the value of patience. One of the best experiences I have enjoyed while leading the efforts for the CFD High School Fire Academy is that it has allowed me to give back to the Charlotte community and make an impact on the lives of many young adults.
